It's been a really long time since I posted so I figured I would start with a happy post.
Two years ago I adopted 2 amazing black kitties. They were known as Lily and Lulu and were up for adoption at Homeward Pets in Woodinville. I applied to adopt on August 6th and waited to hear if I would get an appointment for a phone call to discuss if I was a good fit. That call occurred on Friday, August 13th, 2021 and by the end of the call I had an appointment to meet/pick up the girls on August 17th.

On the 17th I headed over the Homeward pets with excitement and trepidation. Would Buto accept new kitties? Would the new kitties accept us(Buto and me)? I had high hopes of them all getting along immediately but knew that was unlikely.
Lily and Lulu were in separate carriers covered with towels and were growling/hissing. Clearly they were not happy. When the Homeward Pet Adoption person came over, she introduced me to the girls in the carriers and said that due to COVID, we wouldn't be able to take them out of the carriers for me to hold and that they really didn't like being held at this point. I looked at each and fell in love instantly so we went over to the desk to complete the paperwork. From the paperwork I learned they were born on April 1st, 2020 and then I found out that August 17th is Black Cat Day so I felt like it was meant to be.
Along with the kitties, the foster parent had brought a cat tree that they loved and food/toys. I put the cat tree in the car first to make sure it would fit and then put the girls in and home we headed.
First meet was a little grumpy, but soon they were curious about each other through the door. Buto really wanted to go in and they really wanted to come out but I waited several hours before I opened the door.
I decided to rename them. Raven(formerly Lily) and Sable(formerly Lulu) wanted out of the room quite badly and were scratching at the rug so after a couple of hours I decided to give them free reign and see what happened.
They immediately began exploring their new home and would growl/hiss randomly at Buto and each other. They were quite skittish whenever I moved toward them so I just let them be.
They never became super cuddly with Buto, although they did sleep near her a few times. Buto was clearly the alpha cat while she was alive and was always on my lap or chest. Neither Sable or Raven sit in my lap but they do sleep with me throughout the night and love getting scritches.
I can't believe it's been 2 years!! Descriptions for photos below are under each.
