In August 2006 I took a trip to Salt Lake City, UT to visit my Mom and to get out of my apartment. I had been fired from my job on July 26th.
While I was in Salt Lake my Mom and I spent many hours cleaning out the basement and the garage. We were gathering up items to bring back to Seattle and getting rid of a bunch of stuff.
Here is a partial list of what we threw out:
4 Stud Finders
8 Planes
50+ lbs of miscellaneous hardware of unknown origin
13 power receptacles
1 pneumatic door closer
16 handles for doors of various types and in various conditions
3 battery chargers and untold batteries
3-5 water filters of unknown origin
20 feet of 1/2 inch garden hose from the late 80's
9 bottles of transmission fluid for a vehicle that has been gone for 12+ years
12 spark plugs for same vehicle
1 box of automobile battery acid
All of these items were saved by my father over 20+ years. The 50+ lbs of hardware was from saving this screw and that nail regardless of the condition. Some were in bags and had obviously never been used. He never labeled anything so you couldn't tell what it was from. The planes are interesting because I don't remember my dad ever using them. How many stud finders does one person need? The garden hose was cracked and had been unusable for many years. We had to take the battery acid and the muriatic acid to the hazardous waste facility.
I was going to write this up right when I got home from that trip, but I completely forgot about it until I found the list this week while I was cleaning some papers from around my desk.
