About 10 years ago I had a great Halloween Tree - it was spooky and had small ornaments. When I moved to Seattle the tree somehow didn't make it and I have been searching for a similar tree ever since. I found it at Pottery Barn Kids.
It arrived and I immediately put it out with the ornaments from my old tree plus some that I ordered with it and took a picture. The tree was checked out by my younger feline, Buto, but she seemed to be only interested in sniffing it. That's what I thought anyway. A few nights later I was startled awake by a crash and came out to find the tree on the floor with the pot broken. I found a defibrillator to restart my heart and picked up the pieces. I found that the tree is made of resin and is in a styrofoam base. Buto had managed to spread the small ornaments all over the living room. Then I went back to bed on pondered the fact that I would need to get a new pot.
The next day I went out for the sole purpose of getting a new pot. When I got on to SR-527 I found a parking lot and it took me 15 minutes to make it about 2 blocks and traffic the opposite direction was even worse so I decided that I would go get something eat and stopped at Outback. After a couple of hours I ventured out to the store and when I got home I realized that I had forgotten the damn pot. I tried to ignore it, but I couldn't - so I went back out and when I got to Fred Meyer I realized that I hadn't measured the pot and there were 2 pots that might be the right size. I stood there for about 10 minutes trying to decide which one to get and finally chose one. Then I went to the spray paint section to look at black spray paint. After pondering it for awhile I decided to skip the spray paint and make sure the pot was the right size before I bought any paint. I was also fairly sure the I would like the natural terra cotta look.
When I got home I found that I had chosen the right size pot - which is utterly amazing and I set it all back up. Buto was avoiding the tree since it fell - I am fairly sure she lost one of her lives when it fell. So it sat for 3 or 4 days unmolested and then she attacked it again. The pot didn't break this time - so I collected the little ornaments and put them in a container.
I just set it up again with the small ornaments and took a picture. We will see how long it lasts. I know that she will probably attack it again since it has fun little pieces that hang down and are the perfect size for kitty-soccer.
